EP.31 · Gertrude bargains for three weeks before the wedding to Victor, and her father allows it. When she finally sees Sam after two weeks of silence spent mourning Charles, he has heard about Victor and assumes she no longer needs him, though he has finished the reverse trail. Gertrude insists she still needs him, but when Victor arrives, Sam says she is dismissing his services, and talk turns to her becoming Mrs. King. Victor taunts Sam about his inheritance, and everything closes on a loaded question about whether it is his or someone else's.
