She asks why Emily warned him after all his lies and deception, and Emily says it simply felt like the right thing to do. Touched, the old woman explains she is only a mother trying to care for a child who keeps getting worse. When Emily expects to be questioned about the couple, she says she already has all she needs and has made her decision.
